Anthem haters lose big in NCAA women’s tourney

Anthem haters lose big in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Albany, NY. The LSU Tigers decided to skip the playing of the National Anthem, leaving the Iowa Hawkeyes on the court alone.

Can we say backlash? Who do you think the crowd cheered for?

The Hawkeyes, fueled by the mostly outraged fans, beat the Tigers 94-87 , advancing to their second straight Final Four. Caitlin Clark led Iowa in a stellar performance, scoring 41 points, dishing out 12 assists and sinking nine three-pointers: the most three-pointers in NCAA Women’s Basketball history!

LSU Coach Kim Mulkey said missing the National Anthem was “nothing intentional”.

“Honestly, I don’t even know when the Anthem was played,” Mulkey said. “We kind of have a routine where we’re on the floor and then they come off at the 12-minute mark. I don’t know. We come in and do our pre-game stuff.”

According to published reports, LSU has skipped the Anthem all year, as if that justifies what they did. That was hardly an excuse to offended fans.

Wokeism? You can’t blame the crowd for drawing the conclusion.

Can’t say I usually follow the NCAA Women’s Tourney, but this year I will be watching and cheering for Iowa. Go Hawkeyes!!
